What was your impression when you heard how much money was raised?

When I first heard we raised over $30,000, I was completely blown away. In today's economy, it's becoming increasingly more difficult to receive donations for various causes, especially after the Haiti earthquake; the dancers in D4AC, however, came through, and helped raise an immense amount of money for a great cause.

Tell us about why Dance for a Chance is such a positive experience.

-D4AC is such a positive experience because it not only gets the whole school involved, but also the entire Sylvania community. Numerous local businesses helped support D4AC, either through fundraisers or through direct donation. D4AC is also a positive experience for the dancers themselves because it allows the students to grow as leaders and role models for their peers. The people who participate in D4AC learn that by working together toward a common cause, a lot can be accomplished.

What were your impressions on Will Work for Food?

-When I listened to the Will Work for Food presentation, I was really glad that D4AC was donating money to the cause. Some of the statistics that you and Steve said was a terrifying wake-up call to me about the type of problem that hunger really is in today's world. The organization seemed like it was really doing a lot of good towards fighting a prominent, yet often ignored, problem in society. I think that Will Work for Food is a great organization, and I'm glad that D4AC was helping its cause.

What is a word you would use to describe the event and Will Work for Food?

-One word to describe D4AC and Will Work for Food is "hope." D4AC and Will Work for Food are working together to help bring hope to the people in developing nations who do not have any. Both D4AC and WIll Work for Food are vital components to resolving the hunger problem because both help give hope to the people physically hungry for food, and to the people mentally hungry for hope.

Steve Weinberg - WILL WORK FOR FOOD CEO

The second I walked into Sylvania Southview I knew it had a special mix of dedicated teachers and passionate students. I think it was this fortunate combination that made for an extremely energetic and successful event. The Dance for a Chance contribution is the largest WILL WORK FOR FOOD has received to date so you can imagine how excited we were to be a part of the event. We hope to find a way to have Southveiw students stay involved with WILL WORK FOR FOOD through the years to come.
