About Us

As students at the University of Michigan, we created the WILL WORK FOR FOOD initiative in 2007 in an attempt to bridge the gap between local community service and international relief work.

Every year, malnutrition kills 5 million children around the world- that is one child every six seconds. We are hoping to help save these kids.

Realizing that our lives are removed from the daily happenings of these malnourished children, we wanted to give people an opportunity to help their own communities (something we're all more familiar with) while raising relief funds to help save these malnourished kids. And so came our "volunteering locally to save children globally" initiative.

We encourage our participants to do some kind of local community service work and to then ask friends and family to “sponsor” this work with a donation to WILL WORK FOR FOOD.

One-hundred percent of the money raised helps our affiliate organization, Doctors Without Borders, purchase and distribute life-saving nutritional supplements to severely malnourished children.

When we started WILL WORK FOR FOOD, we were focused on fighting malnutrition in Darfur.  We have recently branched out to help other regions of the world since malnutrition has many faces that are overlooked and we want to do our best to bring attention to them all.

WILL WORK FOR FOOD is recognized by the Clinton Global Initiatives for Universities and has gained support across the country for our innovative approach to social and global welfare.
