My passion is helping others. It is as simple as that. Any opportunity that I get to help other people, as long as I can do it whole-heartedly, I will take it. I am interested in WWFF because with it I find several opportunities to help whenever, and although I can not be a concrete member, due to time commitments, I have the freedom to join work efforts at any time.

Hey Workers!

This Saturday, the 28th of January, Battle Park will be hosting us to participate in a work effort from 10 a.m. from 12 p.m. In typical UNC WWFF fashion, we will be present in full force! The weather is slated to be a comfortable 60-degrees Fahrenheit (288.555 Kelvin) and sunny. Please join us slightly before 10 a.m. at the Battle Park shelter near Raleigh Rd, and enjoy a pre-work breakfast and chat with other volunteers.

Serenity House is a non-profit hospice home in Mooresville, North Carolina. Spend a small part of your fall break doing a 4 hour shift at Serenity House! I think the "volunteering locally to help kids globally" is the best motto. I love to volunteer in the local community and would love to one day travel overseas to volunteer, but without the means to do so now, WWFF allows me to help in a unique way.

I have a passion for the developing world, and hope to go overseas one day (soon!) and work with microfinance institutions helping people stuck in the poverty trap become self-sustainable. However, I know that in order to do that and really make an impact in the future, I need to get my education now. But I don't want my years here at college to be wasted, or be so caught up in my future plans that I am blind to the needs right in front of my eyes.

I have always had a place in my heart for those that are less fortunate than me because it was always emphasized in the way I was raised. For this same reason, I have been to Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, and most recently, Haiti. I also love to raise awareness for communities at home and abroad needing assistance. I believe that being a part of WWFF would let me accomplish both of my passions.

I am currently volunteering and UNC Hospitals and became aware of WWFF through the volunteer services department. It seems a great way to help bring out awareness towards malnutrition in third world countries and will help fight and prevent malnutrition.
