We all need a little hope around the coldest time of the year, but sick children in the hospitals need it most. They can't go home for the holidays so we should bring a little holiday joy to them. Southview's peace club will make holiday cards to be delivers to kids in time for the holidays. The date might be changed to fit peace club's last meeting in December, but the spread of holiday joy won't be stopped.

Northwest Ohio Food Bank volunteering

Last year, Southview's annual charity fundraiser focused on hunger and they chose to donate the earned money to Will Work for Food and the Toledo Northwest Ohio Food Bank. Some students had the opportunity to volunteer at the Food Bank by sorting food and packaging those items for people to deliver to those families that needed that food. The Food Bank is accepting help again from Southview students. The Food Bank has agreed to hold a volunteer opportunity for a large group. Let's help out locally and globally!

Hello, My name is Nadejda Mirochnitchenko, but most people just call me Nadya. I was born on January 13th, 1994 in St. Petersburg, Russia a mere 3 years after the fall of communism in the former Soviet Union. I moved to the United States with my family and after traveling half way around the world and learning a new language, I felt at home in Toledo, Ohio. I do not live in a luxurious life and seeing how other people take what they have for granted made me realize that I also take much of my life for granted. I am saddened that the majority of the well to do, do not help their fellow man.

Hello. My name is Dani Kwiatkowski. I am currently a junior in high school at Sylvania Southview. I am an active member within my school. I have been in or still are in many clubs including government, interact, p.e.a.c.e., band and many others. I found out about Will Work For Food from my p.e.a.c.e. club adviser. She had been in contact with Steve after donating about 15,000 dollars from our dance marathon at school. I was on several committees in helping to make the fundraiser possible. After that I was then asked to apply.

Sylvania Southview's annual community service project Dance For A Chance raises money and awareness to help address problems facing our community and the world. This year, students have chosen to focus on combatting hunger both locally and globally by raising money for the Northwestern Ohio Food Bank and Will Work For Food. Dance For A Chance: Operation Hunger will take place Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 12 pm to 12 am.
