Blood Battle, a competition between University of Michigan and Ohio State to see which school can get the most blood donors, is currently taking place around campus.

On Monday, November 15, we will be volunteering at a blood drive on campus. Duties will include signing donors in, walking them from the beds to the snack area, and ensuring that they feel good after they donate.

On Saturday March 20th we will be walking to neighborhoods around campus collecting nonperishable food to benefit Food Gatherers (the local Ann Arbor food bank).

Meet at the Cube by the Union at 1pm. We'll be done no later than 4pm.

In order to double the impact of this volunteer work, you can register at www.willworkforfood.org and ask friends and family to "sponsor" your work with a donation. The money raised saves malnourished kids in other parts of the world.

The UM Cancer Center Volunteer and Community Resources Program is seeking
your help creating Valentine’s Day ‘Bags of Cheer’ for adult cancer patients being treated
at the University Health Center.

On Valentines Day, each adult cancer patient at the Cancer Center and in the hospital
receives a bag stuffed with home-made valentines created by volunteers. Patients look
forward to this event every year and are inspired by the thoughtfulness of those creating
these special cards of cheer.

The Michigan Abilities Center (MAC) therapy programs are customized to promote wellness, enhance self-esteem, and empower children, adolescents, and adults who have physical, mental, emotional, or learning challenges.

The WWFF Headquarters Team will be volunteering at MAC and helping out around the grounds of the 60 acre farm. Some of the work we do will include:

I WORK FOR FOOD because I can. I have the comfort and privilege to attend a University where there is so much discussion about making tangible change, but often little action. In high school I was active in STAND, the student anti-genocide campaign. We raised money for a school that educated Daruri refugees. And while it was personally gratifying, I learned through the process that helping to alleviate suffering and provide opportunities for the oppressed far outweighs any feeling of individual fulfillment.

Community service and volunteering have always been an integral part of my life. From being a "Big Sister" at Hephzibah, a children's foster home, to working at a soup kitchen, service has shaped my perspective. Although most of my experience has been in a more personal, one-on-one environment, Will Work For Food has given me the opportunity to impact communities and lives worldwide.

I really have come to admire WWFF's mission statement and what the organization does. I really like the idea of global citizenship to hit two birds with one stone glocally. I personally just really wanna volunteer because I haven't really done so in my college years. I've been blessed a lot in my life and I feel its only right to spread the love.

As Adwords Manager, I drive traffic to the WWFF site through Google adwords ads on the side of google searches. My team and I conjure up adwords campaigns to launch and we do website metrics to optimize our site usability and search friendliness.

I was introduced to this non-profit by Steve Weinberg through UofM water polo team. The idea intrigued me to register. I want to help not only support my community but also Darfur.
