Hi my name is Colleen Donohue. I am a freshman at St. Marys College and I'm loving it here (except all this snow). WWFF really caught my eye this year because it reminded me of the mission trips and other community service that I have done, especially my mission trip to Louisville Kentucky. Durning this mission trip members of my church and myself emerged ourselves in the lives of Americas lowest class. We slept on the Church floor, didnt have showers, and could never be sure that we would have food and even if we did the food was in really small porpotions and had very little nutrition. When we were there we also went around to many shelters, childcare centers, and to certain families in need. This experience of meeting, interacting, and really getting to know people who live every day in pain and uncertianty, that I only had to deal with for a week, was heart breaking. Thats why since that point I have helped out in many food pantries and try to do as much for children in need as possible. Currently I am helping two amazing girls improve on their reading. I go every week and sit down with each girl indivually and help them be more comfortable reading and try to help them enjoy how reading can take you anywhere and let you see anything. Helping these two girls is not only a learning experience for them it is also a learning experience for me. They are helping me prepare to be a teacher when I graduate.
