Lauren Marinaro
WWFF Participant
Money raised: $10

Hi there!

My name is Lauren Marinaro. I am a junior majoring in Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin Madison and Vice President of Philanthropy of the WI Alpha chapter of Pi Beta Phi sorority on campus. One of my greatest passions is volunteering, therefore, the opportunity to raise money for Doctors Without Borders while I volunteer hands-on would be perfect!

I worked in a lab this summer at the University of Minnesota. The M.D./Ph.D. that sat at the lab bench next to me goes to Africa every year to bring medical care and supplies to kids. His experiences combined with his passion to help others encouraged me to work towards a medical degree and I hope to use my skills similarly when I accomplish this goal. That is part of the reason why WWFF caught my attention.

The opportunity to fundraise while you volunteer also gave me another idea. Everyone in the greek community is required to complete 5 hours of community service a semester. If we could get the greek community to participate in Will Work For Food we could potentially raise a ton of money for Doctors Without Borders and the volunteer hours we work for will also have more meaning.

I will start a group in our sorority for WWFF and encourage all the girls to create a profile and work to get a sponsor. That is my mission by joining your group.

Thank you!

Lauren
