Participant Bio

I, along with my friend Ben Vollmer, am serving as the Campus Rep for Will Work For Food at UNC - Chapel Hill. I hail from Ann Arbor, Michigan and am a junior biology major at UNC.

When I was first approached about WWFF, I was struck by the unique approach it took in emphasizing and utilizing local community service as a tool for international aide. I hadn't heard of any groups trying to bridge the gap between tangible service that anyone can do in their own town or on their own campus and a distant, often overwhelming international crisis. Working for food allows me to see and do good in front of my eyes, while giving me double the satisfaction knowing that the work I'm doing is helping children I may never see who need help with the most basic of necessities - food.

I am very excited to bring WWFF to UNC; a campus full of proactive, socially aware and involved students. I believe that we Heels can make a huge difference both in the Triangle, and in Darfur.
